Bodo Buschmann and his company Brabus bring out a further, outstanding car.
However it is not really surprising that the Bottrop-based firm now implant
their top engine, the all-out 6.3l bi-turbo 12-cylinder motor into the Mercedes SL. But the rates
remain awe-inspiring. On the 'CLS Rocket' named middle class Benz, its 730hp turned out
enough to set a new top speed world record for 4-door cars.
And so it's not
overstated when the press release advertises the new combi- nation as the world's
most powerful roadster. The 'Rocket-driven' convertible reaches 100kph in 4.0 seconds,
200kph in 10.5, and ceases accelerating at 350kph - because of a speed limiter.
Without that, the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo Roadster called open-top Merc would run about
10kph more. And also torque output is more than what the vehicle stands, despite
some reinforcing mods with the transmission.

That's why it's electronically governed too. As with
its organ donor, the über-SL cranks out 1,100Nm, instead of the full test rig
performance of 1,350. To reach such rates, the engineers of Germany's most
reputed tuning company - as a magazine recently found - gave the full treatment to
the base engine. To provide insight into the measures, we have added the decisive
sections of the press release to this editorial. Please see the column at the right.
