Not only Brabus dare spicing up the McMerc SLR. Now also Hamann Motorsport
present a pimped out example to showcase their range for the super car.
However, Hamann's programme is more extensive than the competitor's. At least
the exterior is more conspicuous, but not necessarily nicer. Of course,
that's a matter of taste! Hamann put 21inch wheels to it, Brabus costumers
get 20 inch 'only'.
Name of the conversion is Volcano. Despite this name, it is clearly faster than
sluggish lava. 700hp and 830Nm are maximum rates that indicate how rapidly it
could accelerate. 3.6 seconds are claimed for the standard sprint to
100kph. At impressive 348kph air drag stops this process, under the condition
the tuners are right in specifying this rate as top speed.
Besides other measures, also the exhaust system has been modified. The side
pipes make this clear. A further remarkable detail is the second water pump to
ensure sufficient engine cooling. To refine the cabin, not only Alcantara and
aluminium is used but also a material that's already applied at the exterior
add-on parts: Carbon.
Eventually the thing's slightly eccentric styling might not be to everyones taste
but in view of the
Mercedes McLaren SLR's rareness, hitting a lottery's jackpot is
more likely than seeing Hamann's Volcano on the road. However, we
presume that most of us would anyway prefer winning the lottery.
