


Audi recently presented their new flagship, the 3rd generation A8. Comparative tests in the
German press found that the new one is even better than Mercedes' recently over-worked
top-of-the-line model, the iconic S-class. But one problem remains: Repu- tation
and prestige of the brand is not as high in America and Asia as it's in Europe, where
the make has arrived in the world of prestige names such as BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz!
Design would be a way to make clear that something has changed but the Ingolstadt-based
company apparently set other priorities. The looks of the new A8 appear very close to
the predecessor's, however, the more often you see it in the metal, the more obvious
differences become. Nonetheless, the design language of Audi hasn't significantly changed with the
new A8.
That doesn't go for the exterior alone. Changes with the interior, especially with the
dashboard, are pretty tentative too. During the design process the stylist got some
approaches different to the recent model. But the heads weren't curious enough to
make something like that and decided for a more conservative design. Let's have a
