While most concept cars at today's were shows were powered by an electro
or a hybrid drives, the 2uettottanta, presented at this year's Geneva Auto
Salon, had no motor at all. And that's pretty honest because first,
it was shown by Pininfarina, which are mainly known as a design studio and
not as a car make, and second many concepts aren't as green as they're
claimed to be.
Because, a lot of the energy saving effects we've been told of can only be
achieved under ideal conditions, but not in everyday use. Pinifarina however
resisted the temptation and did not follow the embarrassing fashion of putting
green labels to everything, even super sports cars. So their roadster concept
is no wanna-be or me-too thing, pleasingly.
Instead the 2uettottanta attracts attention by its styling! And that's just
marvelous! It perfectly combines simple design with classic looks and modern
details. It's a breathtaking automotive sculpture! Surely it is the most
beautiful roadster of the last decades. Pininfarina - the company which have
designed most of the Ferrari cars - want hint to the long-time collaboration
with Alfa Romeo by the concept and hopes they make the car come true.
Rumour has it that Alfa is very positive about the shape. Common Italy, give
it to us! Too bad that license plates and door handles have to be attached yet,
to get a permission for public roads. Probably these details will spoil the
exceptional simplicity of the shape a little bit, but even that won't destroy
the perfect proportions, the grace of beauty – oh we love it!
