AMI 2003 +++ Tuning World +++

The Leipziger Messe GmbH, organiser of the Auto Mobil International, intended to emphasise also on car tuning this year. Indeed, an interesting idea because the German tuning companies have increased turnover in Germany, in contrast to the national motor industry itself

Tuning World impressions

An exhibition of American Hot Rods at the main building Glass Hall doubtlessly pointed out that it has been planned to focus upon modified cars in 2003. But, at the hall 3, merely a flag hanging at the ceiling drew public's attention to the Tuning World, a small corner where the auto tuners displayed their products, and the low number of exhibitory car refiners made clear that the aim of attracting more of such companies hasn't been achieved completely.

One problem is undeniably that exhibition space's rental charges are higher than at the Essen Motor Show - which is an event of a higher meaning on the tuning sector. Nevertheless, the AMI 2003 offered much for those who want to upgrade their car. For instance, the renowned Leipzig-based tuner DE Motorsport that attended for the first time as well as Milotec, a firm which specialises in dressing up Skoda cars.

In terms of Tuning World, there is really much to improve, especially because interest in such things was an overwhelming one. But perhaps, also the Hot Rod exhibition has encouraged some visitors to think about individualising their private car, which possibly has made them visiting tuner's stands more curiously. At any rate, the interest in crazy-styled American chrome wheels shown at DE Motorsport's booth seemed to be higher than anywhere and anytime before.
