The Leipziger Messe GmbH, organiser of the Auto Mobil International, intended to
emphasise also on car tuning this year. Indeed, an interesting idea because the
German tuning companies have increased turnover in Germany, in contrast to the
national motor industry itself
An exhibition of American Hot Rods at the main building Glass Hall doubtlessly pointed
out that it has been planned to focus upon modified cars in 2003. But, at the hall 3, merely
a flag hanging at the ceiling drew public's attention to the Tuning World, a small corner
where the auto tuners displayed their products, and the low number of exhibitory car refiners
made clear that the aim of attracting more of such companies hasn't been achieved completely.
One problem is undeniably that exhibition space's rental charges are higher than at the Essen Motor
Show - which is an event of a higher meaning on the tuning sector. Nevertheless, the AMI 2003 offered
much for those who want to upgrade their car. For instance, the renowned Leipzig-based tuner DE
Motorsport that attended for the first time as well as Milotec, a firm which specialises in dressing up
In terms of Tuning World, there is really much to improve, especially because interest in such
things was an overwhelming one. But perhaps, also the Hot Rod exhibition has encouraged some visitors
to think about individualising their private car, which possibly has made them visiting tuner's stands
more curiously. At any rate, the interest in crazy-styled American chrome wheels shown at DE Motorsport's
booth seemed to be higher than anywhere and anytime before.
